Key Points at a Glance

If you are a young person facing a difficult life situation, there is support available to support young people who are difficult to reach.  

This support can help you overcome your personal difficulties if

  • you have not yet received any support,
  • you will soon no longer be eligible for your current support, or
  • you have not been receiving enough support so far.

For example, this support can help you find a job or an apprenticeship, apply for social benefits such as basic income support, or receive other forms of assistance.

 

This program is a voluntary counseling and support service specifically for young people between the ages of 15 and 25. You can receive support if you are in a difficult life situation

This includes, for example:

  • not having completed high school
  • no job or apprenticeship
  • (imminent) homelessness
  • family conflicts
  • financial problems or debt
  • Health problems or addiction issues

The type of support will be discussed with you on an individual basis. Counseling is voluntary and confidential. You are under no obligation to do anything afterward.

Examples of Possible Sources of Help

  • Support within the family
  • Financial support
  • Establishing daily routines
  • Support in finding an apartment or stabilizing one’s living situation
  • Accompanying individuals to government offices
  • Arranging medical treatment
  • Strengthening social relationships
  • Enabling individuals to complete their school diplomas
  • Assistance in finding a job or an apprenticeship 

Who is eligible?

To receive support for young people who are difficult to reach, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You are between 15 and 25 years old
  • You receive basic income support orare highly likely to receive it in the foreseeable future
  • You are not currently in contact with social service agencies or counseling centers, such as the Youth Welfare Office
  • Due to your individual circumstances, you are having difficulty
    • to complete a school-based, vocational, or professional qualification
    • to find work through other means
    • apply for or accept social benefits

You are not eligible for the grant if you

  • are over 25 or under 15 years of age
  • do notreceive basic income support and do not expect to receive it in the foreseeable future
  • are already in contact with social service agencies or counseling centers
