In a nutshell
The program is officially called “Integration of Long-Term Benefit Recipients”. In this text, we use the more user-friendly term “people who have been receiving benefits for a long time”.
As an employer, you can give people who have been receiving benefits for a long time the opportunity to take a job subject to social security contributions. You may be eligible for a subsidy for this. You must submit an application to receive the subsidy. The employment contract must be for at least 2 years.
The Job Center can reimburse you for a portion of the wage costs for the first two years. Accompanying coaching should also be provided. The goal is for these individuals to stop receiving benefits and remain with the company long-term.
If you have already found a suitable candidate and would like to receive funding, it is important to know how long this person has been receiving benefits under SGB II (basic income support).

Are the eligibility requirements met?

Requirements for funding for people who have been receiving benefits for a long time include, for example:
- Only employment relationships subject to social insurance contributions—including part-time positions—with a contract term of at least two years are eligible for funding.
- The following conditions, among others, apply to the person you wish to hire:
- They must be receiving basic income support at the time you submit your application.
- They must have been receiving benefits for at least 21 of the past 24 months and, despite assistance from the Job Center, have not yet found a job.
- They must not have been employed, or only for a short period
- They should be willing to participate in coaching.
The Job Center will verify whether the eligibility requirements are met.
