The online application - simply explained

Fill out the online application. You can complete the online form from the comfort of your own home. Evidence can simply be photographed and uploaded.
Submit your application digitally. Check beforehand that you have provided all the necessary information and evidence correctly.
Wait for the processing time. If there are any queries or new information about your application, the responsible office will contact you.
Notes on data storage
If you log in with your service account, you can cache your application and continue at a later time. Please note, however, that the information you have filled in will only be temporarily stored for 24 hours. After the 24 hours have expired, you will have to start the application again from the beginning.

Parents or legal guardians are entitled to a state subsidy from the first child, regardless of their income: Child benefit.
Do I have a claim?
Child benefit is payable for a child from the day it is born. However, payment is only made after you have submitted an application to the family benefits office.
In principle, all parents or legal guardians (under certain conditions this also applies to stepchildren, grandchildren, adopted or foster children) with German citizenship and residence in Germany receive child benefit if

You can only apply for Child benefit at your family benefits office.
To do this, you need the application for Child benefit. For each child for whom you apply for Child benefit, you must also fill in the "Anlage Kind" (child annex).

Deadlines
Child benefit can be paid retroactively for up to 6 months before the beginning of the month in which the application for child benefit was received if you were already entitled to this benefit during this period.
That's how long it takes
After you have submitted your application for Child benefit to the family benefits office, it can take up to 6 weeks for it to be finally processed.
You will then receive a written notification and all the important information about your Child benefit entitlement.
