Digital Application Assistant: Find the relevant authority & submit an application

Based on your answers, we can show you the relevant authority for your application and you can submit it straight away.

To find the right department, we need a little more information.

Note on Submitting Applications

Please note that you can currently submit your application only through selected partner portals. When you enter a location or ZIP code, we will determine the responsible agency and the corresponding partner portal. You will then receive a link to that portal. On the partner portal, you’ll find more information on how to submit your application. It is currently not possible to submit an application directly through the social services platform.

The Online Application – Explained Simply

Information on Data Storage

If you log in with your service account, you can save your application and continue it at a later time. Please note, however, that the information you have entered will only be saved for 24 hours. After 24 hours have elapsed, you will need to start the application over from the beginning.

In a nutshell

It is recommended that you submit the application to the Job center 4–6 weeks before the end of the benefit period. This allows enough time for the application to be reviewed, and the money can be paid out on time.

The application for renewal is necessary because basic income support is always granted only for a limited period (usually 12 months). If the application is not submitted on time, benefits will automatically stop.

Am I eligible?

You can continue to receive basic income support if you still meet the eligibility requirements.
These include:

  • You are still able to work andin need of assistance.
  • There have been no significant changes in your living situation.

To ensure uninterrupted payments, it is recommended that you submit the application for renewal approximately 4–6 weeks before the current approval period expires.

Required Documents

For the renewal application, you’ll need up-to-date supporting documents—even if nothing has changed. These include, for example:

  • Bank statements for the last 3 months
  • Proof of rent and heating bills
  • Current proof of income (e.g., pay stubs, part-time job)

Additional documents as needed in the event of changes (e.g., move, new household members)

Deadlines

There are no deadlines for submitting applications.

You should submit your application to the Job center in a timely manner.

Submit it about 4–6 weeks before the current approval period expires to ensure uninterrupted payments.
Basic income support is always transferred to your account in advance for the coming month.

That's how long it takes

Once all your documents have been submitted, the Job Center will process your application.

These costs are incurred

There is no charge for submitting the application.

Shared Responsibility

The Job center is responsible for your basic income support. There, you can receive all benefits “under one roof.” Job centers are either “joint agencies”—a joint administration of the Federal Employment Agency and the locally responsible municipality—or purely “municipal Job centers.”
