Please note that the Grant from Placement Budget is a discretionary benefit. You have no legal entitlement to the Grant from Placement Budget. Your local job center will decide whether and to what extent you receive financial support.

Who is entitled?
You can receive the grant if you
receive or have received basic security benefits, are unemployed or at risk of unemployment
and
- want to take up employment or training subject to compulsory insurance within the Federal Republic of Germany or
- take up employment subject to compulsory insurance in a member state of the European Union (EU), a state party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or in Switzerland. This must comprise at least 15 working hours per week.
You cannot receive Grant from Placement Budget if
- The employer provides similar benefits for you.
- Other public bodies are legally obliged to pay similar benefits.
- You are seeking to take up self-employment, a civil servant position or a mini-job (does not qualify for a grant)
The most important topics relating to the placement budget
The only requirement for entitlement to Grant from Placement Budget is the initiation and commencement of employment subject to compulsory insurance. Taking up self-employment, a civil servant position or a mini-job does not qualify for support.
The aim of the support is to take up new employment subject to compulsory insurance or, depending on the individual case, to secure existing employment. Whether training or employment is arranged by the employment agency or job center or is sought by the person themselves is irrelevant for the entitlement to benefits.
Grant from Placement Budget is granted exclusively as a subsidy. Only costs that are necessary for your professional integration can be reimbursed.
These are, for example:
- Application costs,
- travel costs to job interviews,
- commuting to the new job,
- costs for necessary documents (e.g. certified copies, translations),
- relocation costs (if you have to move for the new job).
In addition, you can also be reimbursed for expenses incurred within the first 6 months of starting a new job. For some expenses, you must expect to pay your own share.
The reimbursement options can vary from job center to job center. Funding is limited to the assumption of actual and verifiable costs incurred; advance payment is only possible in exceptional cases.
Providing professional skills cannot be supported by the Grant from Placement Budget .
