Questions about registration

No login or registration is initially required to use the social platform. However, there are benefits that can be applied for directly on the social platform using a separate form. To do this, it makes sense to register with your BundID or electronic ID card.

If you register with the BundID, you can use it not only to use the social platform, but also for a large number of connected portals and online services offered by cities, municipalities, ministries and authorities.

Even if you register with your electronic ID card, you will only need this online ID card and the corresponding PIN for future logins. This allows you to carry out numerous official procedures and business matters completely online and in a data-secure manner.

To set up the Bund.ID, go to http://id.bund.de (without www.) and click on "Create account". Follow the instructions.

When you receive your registration link, it will be valid for 24 hours. Registration is complete when you click on the link. If you do not complete registration within the 24 hours, your registration data, including your user name and password, will be automatically deleted. You would then have to register again.

Your ID card is equipped with a chip on which your personal data such as name, address and date of birth are stored. This means you can also use your ID card online. No matter what type of service account you choose. To register with the online ID card, you will need:

• your ID card for which the electronic proof of identity (eID) is activated,
• the six-digit PIN you have assigned yourself,
• a smartphone with NFC function or a corresponding card reader, (here you will find a list of NFC-enabled smartphones that can be used to carry out secure transactions and exchange digital content),
• the ID card app provided free of charge by the federal government on your computer,
• if you use your smartphone: the ID card app on your smartphone as well.

Once you have registered with the online ID card, all you need for future logins is your online ID card and the corresponding PIN.

With the online ID card, you can also identify yourself securely on the Internet. You can simply deal with the authorities or business matters electronically. This saves time, costs and trips. Your ID card data is always transmitted end-to-end encrypted. They cannot be intercepted or viewed. You can find more information about this via this link.

If you cannot find the e-mail to register for a service account in your inbox, please check the junk/spam folder of your mailbox. If you cannot find an e-mail here either, please check whether your mailbox has sufficient free capacity. If this is also the case, please repeat the registration process a short time later. If you still have not received a registration link, please contact the information hotline of the social platform between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on 0211 837-1955.

Click on "Log in with username and password". If you have forgotten both or just the username, first select "Forgot username?", enter your e-mail address and click on the blue "Request username" button. You will now receive an email with your username.

Then reset the password. Click on "Forgot your password" at the bottom right of the same website. Now enter your user name and click on the blue "Forgot password" button. You will now be sent an e-mail with a link.

Click on the link in the e-mail or copy it into the address bar of your browser ('Internet window'). You can assign yourself a new password on this page. Enter it identically in both lines and remember it well. You will then be notified that your password has been successfully saved.

Now click on the link below "Back to login" and "Log in with user name and password". Enter both carefully and you will be taken to your service account.
