Key Points at a Glance

Whether you need to submit an application or can submit proof of eligibility for benefits under the Education and Participation Package directly depends on which benefits you are already receiving.

Please note that you can only use this online application if you are applying for the Education and Participation Package for the first time and are receiving benefits under SGB II (basic income support) or SGB XII (social assistance). If you have already submitted an application or are receiving benefits under other legal frameworks (e.g., Housing benefit/Child allowance under the BKGG or AsylbLG), please send any additional documents directly to your responsible authority.

Important: Costs can generally only be reimbursed if the appropriate supporting documentation is provided. The situation is different for personal school supplies. In this case, a fixed amount is transferred for each school semester. To receive this amount, the child’s school certificate must be forwarded to the competent authority responsible for providing the benefits. This is only necessary if the child is under 7 or over 15 years of age.

Even if you do not receive any of the benefits listed above, you may still be eligible for benefits under the Education and Participation Package, provided you can submit the necessary documentation.

In this case, please contact your local authority.

When an application is required

If you receive any of the following benefits, you must submit an application for benefits under the Education and Participation Package:

  • Housing benefit
  • Child allowance

Important: Although no application is required, you must submit proof of benefits in order to receive reimbursement for the associated costs.

In which cases is supporting documentation sufficient?

If you receive at least one of the following benefits, you do not need to submit an application; instead, you can submit supporting documentation for reimbursement:

  • Basic Income Support
  • Cost-of-living assistance
  • Basic welfare for the elderly and people with reduced earnings capacity
  • Benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act

Important: To be reimbursed for expenses, you must collect all supporting documents and receipts . These include, for example, bus tickets and invoices from the school for the field trip.
