Digital Application Assistant: Find the relevant authority & submit an application

Based on your answers, we can show you the relevant authority for your application and you can submit it straight away.

To find the right department, we need a little more information.

Note on the application

Please note that you can currently only apply for Funeral Costs Assistance via selected partner portals. If you enter a town or zip code, we will determine the responsible office and the corresponding partner portal. You will then receive a link to it.

If the deceased person received social assistance, the social welfare office that granted this benefit is responsible. Otherwise, the social welfare office of the place of death is responsible. Accordingly, the postcode/place where the responsible social welfare office is located should be entered.

You can find more information on how to submit your application digitally on the partner portal. A direct application via the social platform is currently not possible.

Short and sweet

A relative of yours has died and you are unable to pay the funeral costs yourself? Even inheritance or death benefits are not enough?

Funeral costs can be, for example, the cost of a simple coffin with inlay or purpose-related public fees. The social welfare office can cover the funeral costs under certain conditions.
