The senior citizens' pass is a voluntary service that is not offered by every municipality. You can apply for it in the town or municipality where you have your main residence.

Important Facts

Some local authorities offer a senior citizens' pass for their residents. For example, you can benefit from reduced admission to public facilities such as museums, libraries and zoos. In addition, certain physical activities, lectures, training courses and excursions as well as other activities can be supported.

Note: In some municipalities, eligibility is income-dependent. In this case, proof of monthly income and monthly charges is required. It is best to find out about the income limit from your local authority before applying.

Who is eligible?

You can obtain the senior citizens' pass if

  • your municipality/municipality/city offers the pass. This is a voluntary service.
  • you have your main residence in the municipality/municipality/city that issues the pass.
  • You have reached the age limit set by your municipality for the senior citizens' pass. This is between 60 and 67 years of age, depending on where you live. In some municipalities, you can alternatively attach proof of receipt of an old-age pension.
  • (optional) you have not exceeded the income limit set by your municipality/municipality/city.

You cannot obtain the senior citizens' pass if

  • your municipality/municipality/city does not offer the pass. This is a voluntary service.
  • you do not have your main residence in the municipality/municipality/city for which you would like to apply for a senior citizens' pass.
  • you have not reached the age limit set by your local authority for the senior citizens' pass. This is between 60 and 67 years of age, depending on where you live. In some municipalities, you can alternatively attach proof that you are drawing an old-age pension.
  • (optional) you have exceeded the income limit set by your municipality/municipality/city.
