The funds for support from the placement budget are provided by your responsible job center. Whether and to what extent your expenses will be reimbursed will be clarified before these costs are incurred when you apply for reimbursement. A meeting will be held with a contact person at your local Jobcenter.
Grant from Placement Budget
The most important facts
If you receive Citizen's Benefits, the support from the placement budget is intended to help you find and take up a new job or training. Your local job center can support you financially by covering the following costs, for example
- Application costs
- Travel costs to job interviews
- Costs for required documents (e.g. certified copies, translations)
- Relocation costs (if you have to move for the new job)
Please note that funding from the placement budget is a discretionary benefit. You have no legal entitlement to funding from the placement budget. Your local Jobcenter will decide whether and to what extent you will receive financial support.
The application is free of charge and can be submitted verbally or in writing. Depending on which support you have applied for, you will need to submit the relevant supporting documents. Your contact person will tell you which documents must be enclosed with the application.
You not only have the option of applying for support from the placement budget via the Sozialplattform. If you have already done so, you can also use an online form to simply upload supporting documents or submit receipts for costs incurred.
You must submit your application for funding from the placement budget before the costs are incurred.
Who is entitled?
You can receive the grant if you
receive or have received basic security (Grundsicherung) benefits, are unemployed or at risk of unemployment
and
- wish to take up employment or training subject to compulsory insurance within the Federal Republic of Germany or
- take up employment subject to compulsory insurance in a member state of the European Union (EU), a signatory state to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or in Switzerland. This must involve at least 15 hours of work per week.
You cannot receive support from the placement budget if
- The employer provides similar benefits for you.
- Other public bodies are legally obliged to pay similar benefits.
- You are seeking to take up self-employment, a civil servant position or a mini-job (does not qualify for support)
Facts about the placement budget
The only requirement for entitlement to support from the placement budget is the initiation and commencement of employment subject to compulsory insurance. Taking up self-employment, a civil servant position or a mini-job does not qualify for support.
The aim of the support is to take up new employment subject to compulsory insurance or, depending on the individual case, to secure existing employment. Whether training or employment is arranged by the employment agency or the job center or is sought by the person themselves is irrelevant for the entitlement to benefits.
Funding from the placement budget is granted exclusively as a subsidy. Only costs that are necessary for your professional integration can be reimbursed.
These are, for example
- Application costs,
- Travel costs to job interviews,
- commuting to your new job,
- Costs for necessary documents (e.g. certified copies, translations),
- relocation costs (if you have to move for the new job).
You can also be reimbursed for expenses incurred within the first 6 months of taking up a new job. For some expenses, you must expect to pay your own share.
Reimbursement options may vary from job center to job center. Funding is limited to the reimbursement of actual and verifiable costs incurred; advance payment is only possible in exceptional cases.
Funding from the placement budget cannot be used to support the provision of vocational skills.
