Migration & asylum

Benefits for migrants and asylum seekers. Your options.

If you have come to Germany from a non-EU country or a third country and need financial or material assistance, you can apply for benefits under the German Asylum-Seekers’ Benefits Act (Asylbewerberleistungsgesetz, [AsylbLG]) if you meet certain requirements. These benefits are intended to help you cover your day-to-day living expenses and needs.

If you meet the requirements for benefits under the Asylum-Seekers’ Benefits Act (Asylbewerberleistungsgesetz, AsylbLG), you can receive what are known as basic benefits (Grundleistungen). These are monetary benefits and benefits in kind for a range of items, such as housing, food, clothing, body care, medical care and your personal needs.
