In a Nutshell

Whether you need an application or can directly submit proof of benefits from the education and participation package depends on which benefits you already receive.

Important: The costs can generally only be reimbursed if the relevant proof is available. The situation is different for personal school supplies. Here, a fixed amount is transferred for each school semester. In order to receive this amount, the child's school certificate must be forwarded to the office responsible for providing benefits. This is only necessary if the child is under 7 or over 15 years old.

Even if you do not receive any of the above-mentioned benefits, you may still be able to claim benefits from the education and participation package, provided you can present the relevant evidence.

In this case, please contact your local authority.

In which cases an application is necessary

If you receive one of the following benefits, you must submit an application for benefits from the education and participation package:

  • Housing benefit
  • Child supplement

Important: Although no application is required, it is essential to submit proof of benefits in order to receive reimbursement of the associated costs.

In which cases proof is sufficient

If you receive at least one of the following benefits, you do not need to submit an application, but can submit proof of reimbursement:

  • Citizen's allowance
  • Assistance with living expenses
  • Basic income support in old age and in the event of reduced earning capacity
  • Benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act

Important: In order to be reimbursed for costs, all proof/receipts for expenses must be collected. This includes, for example, bus tickets and bills from the school for the day trip.
