Note on the application
The online application - simply explained
Enter your zip code. Based on your location, we will check whether an online application is possible.
Fill out the online application. You can complete the online form from the comfort of your own home. Evidence can simply be photographed and uploaded.
Send the application digitally. Check beforehand that you have provided all the necessary information and evidence correctly.
Wait for the processing time. If there are any queries or new information about your application, the responsible office will contact you.
Note on data storage
If you log in with your service account, you can cache your application and continue at a later time. Please note, however, that the information you have filled in will only be temporarily stored for 24 hours. After the 24 hours have expired, you will have to start the application again from the beginning.
Short and sweet
If you are entitled to state blindness benefit, you can apply for Blindness Benefit as an additional benefit. Blindness Benefit is a so-called compensation for disadvantages and is intended to compensate for the additional expenses incurred as a result of your physical disability.
You can only receive Blindness Benefit on application. You can submit this online here or to your social welfare office.
Do I have a claim?
In principle, you are eligible for Blindness Benefit if you are blind or have a comparably severe long-term visual impairment and can provide evidence of this.
Required documents
In order to apply for Blindness Benefit, you must be able to prove that you are blind or have a comparably severe and long-term visual impairment. You can do this, for example, by showing the "Bl" mark on your Severely Disabled Pass or an ophthalmologist's certificate.
If you have a care degree, you should also submit the approval notice from your care insurance fund.
Deadlines
There are no deadlines for applying for Blindness Benefit. Please note that Blindness Benefit is only paid from the day on which the social welfare office learns of your need.

After you have submitted the application and all required documents, the application will be reviewed. The processing time may vary.
